Hometown Barn Wedding
Abby and I go WAY back. WAY. BACK.
As in, we’ve been friends for over 10 years.
As in, she knew me back when I was an 140-pound, immature, melodramatic, fake-confident high schooler.
As in— my goodness— we even worked together at my first job at Fox’s Pizza Den!
No idea how she put up with me, or how we stayed friends but I’m so glad we did. And actually, Abby doesn’t even know this, but I even give her a little bit of credit for getting me into photography originally! Her and her family used to photograph her track meets and such, and seeing her take such good pictures with that ‘big camera,’ I thought, “Hey! I can do that!”
Now years later we still managed to see each other every once in a blue moon and now here we are today… She’s married and I had the honor of being her wedding photographer in our hometown of Sugarcreek, Ohio at one of the best venues in the area!
When Jordan and I arrived we were greeted by Abby’s mom (who I might add, is like, aging backwards) and all the feelings kicked in. I could already tell it was going to be such an incredible day. The venue was absolutely stunning— brilliant— featuring quintessential barn wedding decor and vibes; nearly all of which was DIY, made by Abby and her family. So beautiful! The good vibes kept coming as I met her amazing bridal party, and even got teary-eyed as I saw this old friend of mine in her gorgeous, perfect wedding dress. It was surreal.
Everyone had a wonderful time for the first look and portraits, and the bridal party people were all great sports about taking all the time we did for portraits. Granted, we could have stopped after the first 10 minutes, but why would we EVER do that? When there’s time, why not, right? It’s so much more relaxing when you don’t have to rush and can just have fun with it. The Barn at Sugarcreek offered a lot of picturesque spots, and we even managed to make it to the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock for a few.
The ceremony was short, sentimental, and sweet and, as usual, I was doing a good job of holding it together until they read 1 Corinthians 13. Gets me every single time.
Finally, the reception was a total blast. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were good at getting the party started and the guests were all so fun too. Everyone danced until long after the sun set.
I’m so blessed to have the best friends and clients, and this wedding was no exception! Everything was relaxed, fun, and just plain perfect; and as a result we got perfect images.
I couldn't be happier for you, Abby and Chris. The love and respect you have for each other is so clear and genuine, and you have an incredible love story to match it. I'm so glad you found each other. Enjoy the preview, and thank you so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer.
